The famous ''Parian stone"

Paros is one of the largest and most fertile islands of the Cyclades, in the bowels of which, was hidden the' parian-stone ', the most famous marble in the world. A massif in the center of the island, Prophet Elias, with an altitude of 770 meters, and the region with low hills which fade on the coasts, as well as many croplands define the landscape of the island.

A special landscape with thousand of corners waiting to be discovered. Beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters, unique Byzantine paths, impressive seabed, winds blowing in a sweet way and inflating the sails of the sailing boats.

Walk around the island to discover the villages with streets paved with a special material, the monasteries and the churches with impressive roofs and marble spires, fountains, windmills, outdoor wine presses, "rakidia" and the "houses", the rural parian farmhouses made of stones, soil, trunks, canes and layers of seaweed, scattered in the hinterlands.

The ancient quarries in Marathi, the sanctuary of Asclepius and Apollo Pithios near Aliki, Delion on the hill outside of Parikia, the Ekatontapiliani along with small chapels and the Lefkes(Poplars), Marpissa, Naussa, Aliki, Pisso Livadi, Drios, Punta, shows to the visitors the lasting and the magical relationship of Paros with the man.

Natural wealth

Vineyards, wheat, barley, fertile soil and citrus agriculture are greening the landscape of the island. Poplars, pine trees complete the rich flora. In the paths of Paros you can find mushrooms between the rocks and you will smell the thyme in every turn. The rare saffron makes its appearance on the island. In the fall and spring, in the fields with the cherry trees, sprout mushrooms amanites.

The island's wetlands are an important shelter for various species of aquatic birds such as the Kingfisher and the Eurasian Oystercatcher, coming from the North in the winter. In the spring Paros welcomes its herons, while the short-toed eagle and the Eleonora's Falcon complete the winged island's population.

Paros' "musts"

  • The "butterfly valley" in Psychopiana is the island's most beautiful sight with its thousands of butterflies flying or standing on various trees and plants. It's a paradise place, that you'll remember for a long time.
  • Naousa's Venetian Castle is one of the most beautiful castles in Greece, with the majestic view and its interesting story.
  • Take care of your body with pure clay, which you can find in Kalogeros. This isn't a very famous beach, so you'll be able to take your time and relax by the sea.
  • If you are looking for something different or you want to have a break from Paroikia's and Naousa's taverns, the mainland has many surprises to offer, with cozy taverns, lower prices and excellent quality. If you visit Lefkes village try to find "Marathi tavern", where all ingredients are domestic and they cut and cook the meat in front of you.
  • Paros' best ise-cream is in Naousa. "Italos" produces its own ice-cream, based on an old Italian recipe and in many flavors.

Don't forget

Paros is a "two modes" island. You can choose an intense vacation and a nightlife to the limits, or special places to be isolated and relax. Whatever your choice is, traffic is something you can't avoid, especially during noon. There are also many police check-points during night, so don't drive if you've drunk too much.

The most famous beaches on the island are organized. In some of them you'll have to be there early in the morning, to find a deck-chair, while in others you'll have to be patient with crowds. Be careful with your personal stuff.

If you want to rent a car, you won't find any problem, even if you haven't booked one. However, we suggest to book it as soon as possible, so you can hit a better price and find the right type of vehicle for you.

Happy Holidays in Paros!!!
